Keepsake jewelry is a special way to cherish your precious memories; it is an item or piece of jewelry made from a personal inclusion(s) such as breastmilk, hair, fur, dried flowers, cremated remains and much more!
I am committed to creating the perfect piece for my customers, so if you are looking for something specific, please don’t hesitate to contact me and start the creative process! -

During my research on how breastmilk jewelry is made, I quickly realized how secretive inclusion artists are - and with good reason! It takes years of trial and error to figure out exactly how to process and preserve breastmilk for jewelry creation.
Unfortunately, I cannot explain exactly what is used or what the method is that I use, but I as a breastfeeding Mama of 3 babies I know how precious those drops of liquid gold are, and can assure you I take great care in perfecting each piece I make for my clients!
I can, however, explain some of the steps in creating the breastmilk stone for each piece: The bacteria is removed from your sample to prevent decay. Then, a preservation powder (that I make) is added to the breastmilk which turns into a paste. The paste is laid out to dry in a sterile environment, and once fully dry, it is ground by hand with a mortar and pestle into a fine powder. This dried breastmilk powder is then added to jewellers grade resin and optional special effects are added according to the order details (some clients choose to add these to enhance the stone, but is purely personal preference!). After the resin has cured, the stone is then placed into the setting and secured, polished, and packaged for pickup or mailing to its owner!

For breastmilk inclusions, it usually takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks to create the finished product as it takes time to label the order; preservation of the breastmilk and creating the breastmilk powder, degassing and curing of the resin, setting the stone in the jewelry, packaging and arranging pickup or shipping to the customer, and every step in between.
For all other inclusions, the timeframe is 3-5 weeks as there is no preservation necessary. I use two types of resin, which will affect the length of the process.
Any timeline given is approximate and is subject to change at any time due to many factors such as humidity at the time of preservation, type of resin used, type of inclusion, number of orders, etc.
I am the sole owner and operator of Infinity DNA Artistry, so I am responsible for everything from website creation, answering inquiries, processing all orders, etc, so I appreciate your patience more than you will ever understand! If you would like to see the status of your order, I recommend creating an account during the checkout process. This will allow you to log in and view your current and past orders, including their status.
You can always request to rush an order which can reduce your wait time by 2-3 weeks and ensure your order takes priority. -
This is a very common question from my clients - and the answer is no! Since the breastmilk isn’t being consumed, it can be fresh, frozen, spoiled, sour, etc. I have used breastmilk from clients that was sitting in their freezer for 6 years with no issues!
Keep in mind, though, that some breastmilk may have a pinkish-red, yellow, blue or even green tint to it - this can be due to what your diet consists of, if you were sick or fighting a virus at the time, if it is fore milk (the first milk that is released which is thinner and contains less fat and more electrolytes) or hind milk (the milk released toward the end of the pumping/feeding session which is heavier/creamier and contains more fat), if the milk was frozen, etc. The color of the breastmilk when I receive it will have a huge impact on the finished color of your stone.
If you would like to ensure your stone is pure white, you can choose whitener from the special effects list.
-
Not necessarily. Due to the preservation powder I use being white, it may make your stone look more white/opaque than your milk did when it arrived. Though, if you send colostrum or a tinted milk (which can happen due to diet, illness, etc), it will likely have a more visible yellow hue than milk that arrives more white.
A lot depends on the chemical makeup of your breastmilk sample and how it reacts to the chemicals in the preservation powder and the preservation method.
If you wish to ensure your stone is white, you can choose the “stone whitener” option during the ordering process.
If I am creating your stone and it looks translucent or very yellow, I may add a tiny amount of brightener to it.
If you do not want me to do this (even if it does look translucent or yellow), please add a note to your order and specify that you do not want any whitener/brightener added to your piece.
-
Absolutely, that’s what this is all about!
When you choose an item you wish to order, you will be given the option to select ‘stone enhancements’ - these are additives to add your personal touch to your stone. You can request to have one side of the stone to have birthstone color, or place the lock of hair in the middle of the stone and shimmer powder or flakes on one side, the opacity of the shimmer or amount of flakes, etc.
Keep in mind that flakes (and other heavy additives) may move slightly and settle during the curing process, so it may not be possible to fulfill your exact request.

You have 6 months from the date of purchase to send me your inclusion(s). If I do not receive your inclusion within this timeframe, your order will be cancelled, and no refund will be given. There are no exceptions.
Sometimes the suppliers I use discontinue settings or have a waitlist - since I do not keep stock on hand, this is out of my control. If this happens I will contact you and give you a store credit to use towards a different setting in the amount of your total order (not including shipping). No refunds will be given.

If you are local and wish to drop off your inclusion(s), an email will be sent to you with instructions and address. Prepare your inclusion(s) the same way as below, with the exception of the bubble mailer envelope step.
Detailed instructions on how to mail your inclusions will be sent via email once your order has been placed, including the address to mail it to. If you do not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder. If you still do not see the email, please use the contact us form to let me know.
You must get tracking information and keep your receipt when shipping your inclusion to me. Do not use the ‘require signature’ feature if your shipping offers it.
Special Notes:
* DO NOT SEND ME THE LAST OF YOUR BREASTMILK OR OTHER KEEPSAKE(S)! There are rare occasions where it can get lost or damaged during transit. I will not be held responsible in this situation.
* DO NOT SEND BREASTMILK DIRECTLY IN ZIPLOCK BAGS! This will end in a leaky mess, and you will be required to send your breastmilk again.
* DO NOT USE TAPE
INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH INCLUSION:
Breastmilk:
Place your breastmilk in a breastmilk storage bag labelled with your name, date and invoice number, ensuring you squeeze out the air before sealing. You can get these from Walmart, drug stores like Lawtons Drugs and Shoppers Drug Mart, or almost any other store that sells baby items.
The method I use only requires 15-30mL of breastmilk per item (for example, if you are ordering one ring, send 15-30mL. If you are ordering a ring and pendant, send 30-60mL.).
Next, fold the bag, and place in another breastmilk storage bag labelled with your name, squeezing the air out before sealing. Then place that into a ziplock bag, label with your name and squeeze out the air before sealing.
Cremated remains:
I only require 1tsp per item. You can place this in a ziplock bag labelled with your name, date and invoice number, and gently squeeze out the air before sealing. Place this in another ziplock bag, label and squeeze out the air before sealing.
Please do not use tape to seal the bags.
Place this in a bubble mailer envelope.
I will return any unused ash (whether it is leftover unused ash or mixed with resin).Dried flowers:
Send 4-6 fully dried flowers/petals by placing inbetween two pieces of parchment paper then put that in between two pieces of cardboard - you can secure this with tape or an elastic band if you wish.
Place this in a ziplock bag labelled with your name, date and invoice number, and squeeze out the air.Hair/Fur:
I usually require about 25-30 strands (or approximately 3mm wide) of hair. The easiest way to do this is to tie a small elastic around the hair, then cut just before the elastic, ensuring the lock is secured by the elastic - this will keep the strands from becoming tangled and make it easier for me to handle during your stone creation.
Place this in a ziplock bag labelled with your name, date and invoice number.
Do not use tape. I will return any unused hair to you.Encapsulated placenta:
Place 1-2 capsules (per item) in a ziplock bag and label with your name, date and invoice number.
I will return any unused capsules to you.Umbilical cord:
If you are sending umbilical cord, it must be fully dried. Only send a small portion of the stump (approximately 5-10mm).
Place in a ziplock bag, squeeze out the air, label with your name, date and invoice number.
I will return any unused umbilical cord to you.For all other inclusions, please contact me for instructions.

Your preserved breastmilk powder is kept on hand for 2 years after your order.
I do not return breastmilk or preserved breastmilk powder.
Left over cremated ash, hair, fur, fabric, dried flowers, encapsulated placenta, umbilical cord, etc will always be sent back to you with your order. -
I only use the best quality settings that I can find. The types of metal I offer are solid 0.925 Sterling Silver, 14k gold filled, 18k gold filled and vermeil plating.
I sometimes offer a setting in gold plating, but this is to ensure I offer my services to Mamas of all budgets - the plating on these settings will wear off over time and will need re-plating at some point.
Vermeil is a much thicker plating, but may also fade eventually over time and need re-plating.Occasionally, sterling silver can tarnish, but this can be fixed by polishing with your included polishing cloth that is included with every order.
To prevent tarnishing and to extend the quality of your plated piece, it is important to follow the care instructions (also included with every order, and available to view here).

The quick answer: No.
Why? Because every piece is created from your personal inclusion, and made by hand so slight differences and variations are inevitable! Some inclusions are harder to work with, so no two pieces will ever look alike.Variations that will happen that are unavoidable include, but are not limited to, translucency, bubbles, stones not sitting completely flush on the settings, inclusions or stone enhancements settling during curing, evidence of sanding, and other minor imperfections. These are all normal within handcrafted jewelry.
By purchasing from Infinity DNA Artistry, you agree that your jewelry piece will not be perfect or without any flaws.

Of course! These make wonderful gifts for baby showers, grandparents, Mother’s Day, Valentines Day, Anniversaries, and so much more!

At this time, I do not sell DIY kits - for a few reasons:
1. The preservation powder for breastmilk inclusions requires me to use special PPE (such as respirators and medical gloves) as it contains chemicals that may be harmful if inhaled. I cannot ensure customers are using the proper supplies and PPE, therefore it does not feel ethical to offer DIY kits at this time.2. I cannot ensure each step of the preservation process is followed exactly, which can cause the breastmilk inclusions to not be properly prepared prior to stone creation. I want to create beautiful keepsakes that you can pass down from generation to generation, and to guarantee the quality of my items.
3. Jewelry grade resin is a tricky medium and takes time and practice to understand how to create beautiful stones. I want to make sure your keepsake stone is perfect, and I feel it is best if I use my expertise and experience to create the perfect item for you.
